ABOUT OUR CLUB
The Mallorca Wordsmiths Club
(formerly The Mallorca Toastmasters Club) was initiated
by a committee of professional business men and women chaired
by Deborah Cameron with the help of Sean Smith from The Al
Andalus Toastmasters Club and Barbara Hofmeister from The
Achievers Club - both in south west Spain. An Executive Committee
was formed in September 2002 and Deborah Cameron was elected
the Club's first President.
The first meeting
was held on 2 October 2002 and is the first Toastmasters Club
in the Balearics.
The Club achieved
its first goal of having more than 20 members within a month.
The Club was officially chartered in November 2002. In 2004/5
and 2006/7 the Club achieved President's Distinguished Club
status, the highest recognition a Toastmaster club can get
within the Distinguished Club Program. It is also the Home
Club of the Area Governor.
The Mallorca Wordsmiths Club
meets every Thursday evening at
8.00 for 8.30 at the
Sa Masia Restaurant, Costa de La Calma.
The Club members invite guests at each meeting.
The Club also has social functions as well as training sessions
each month.
